YAMUNA

YAMUNA

un film de François Daireaux - Voyages et Découvertes

The Yamuna flows through the heart of India, where the sewers of New Delhi pour out toxic materials day after day, fuelling the ecological disaster that is spreading along its 40 km of banks.

Since India's independence, the land along the river has been progressively occupied by people from very poor regions. Victims of unbridled urbanization, most of them have no property title and are threatened with expropriation every day by the repeated assaults of bulldozers sent by the state to destroy their crops.

Augustin has been diving in polluted waters for 35 years, collecting all kinds of objects that he resells to support the needs of the poorest inhabitants.
